Chief Davidson Alaribe, the 60th President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), has urged accountants to uphold the profession’s principles while instilling innovation and integrity to help them navigate difficult times.
Alaribe made this statement during the investiture of Mr. Olugbenga Daniel Sholarin, FCA, as the 7th Chairman of the Mowe & District Society, alongside his dynamic executive team.
Alaribe stated that under the guiding theme “Upholding ICAN’s Legacies,” they are focused on leveraging their DIAMOND strategy to spearhead advancements in digital innovation, advocate for transparency, and expand educational outreach, especially at the grassroots level for more community impact.
The Mowe & District Society, established a decade ago, has grown to be an important player in the region’s economic landscape.
Alaribe stated that the District, which is known for its active engagement and innovative initiatives, promotes the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in accounting practices.
Sholarin, Managing Partner of Financhor Partners, a finance and auditing firm, praised the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi Anthony, FCA, and his team for their significant contributions to elevating the District’s stature, noting that their dedication had set a high standard for future leadership.
During his tenure, he promises to ensure and prioritize key initiatives to further develop the sector.
According to Sholarin, these efforts aim to establish ICAN as a global financial governance leader and beacon of excellence.
He stated that he will participate in initiatives such as the “Catch-them-young” program to inspire future generations of accountants, address local issues, and serve the public interest.
Sholarin holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and a Master of Science (MSc) in accounting from McPherson University in Ogun state, in addition to his HND certificate. He also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a specialization in finance.
Immediately after his NYSC in year 2002, he got appointment with SONUGA GBADAMOSI & CO CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS as an Audit trainee and rose to the position of Audit Manager. While there, he enrolled for ICAN exam in the year 2004, got qualified in 2005 and inducted in the year 2007.
He left the Audit firm in 2005 to Servetek Engineering Company as an Assistant Finance Manager.
In 2006, he redeployed to JIFEX LIMITED as the Head of Account and left in the year 2008 to Globacom Limited as a Regional Accountant/Stock Controller covering between Bauchi and Yola.
He left Globacom Limited in the year 2015, worked briefly with Ternary Consulting Ltd in the year 2016 as a senior consultant and left in the same year to establish SOCCA Professional Services.
The Consultancy outfit is set up to render consultancy services in Tax, Corporate services, Accountancy and Business advisory services etc. One year later he founded SHOLARIN OLUGBENGA & CO. CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT in the year 2017 after obtaining his License and meeting up with necessary requirements and till date is the Managing Partner.
