Although details of his abduction are still sketchy, SaharaReporters gathered that Ujam is in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry.

At the time of filing this report, the suspected kidnappers had not reached out to his relatives for ransom.

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), identified as Emeason Chima, was also kidnapped on Saturday along the same road by some gunmen.

Chima, who is attached to RS4.211, Ugbokolo Unit of the FRSC was kidnapped around Maduka University in the Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State, while he was driving alone in a Toyota saloon car.

His captors have demanded a ransom of N50 million to release him.

An unconfirmed report also claimed that occupants of a commercial bus were also abducted on the same road on Friday.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the Enugu State Police Command were unsuccessful as the Command’s spokesperson DSP Daniel Ndukwe, could not be reached on the telephone at the time of filing this report as his mobile line was reported ‘not reachable’.
