Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have attacked Kwami community in the Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State, killing a man identified as Adamu Commander by slitting his throat.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when residents mobilised to repel the attackers after learning about their presence in the community.
However, despite the residents’ efforts, the heavily armed gunmen reportedly overpowered them, capturing Adamu Commander and gruesomely killing him before fleeing the area.
One of the source told SaharaReporters that the deceased, who was said to be well known in the community and is survived by two wives, has left behind a grieving family and shocked residents.
The source said his death has deepened fears over the growing wave of insecurity in the region, with locals calling on authorities to step up security measures to protect vulnerable communities in Gombe State.
One of the source said, “The attackers struck on Sunday night, killing a man known as Adamu Commander.
“The incident occurred when residents mobilised to provide support after learning of the kidnappers’ invasion. Despite their efforts, the gunmen managed to overpower them and gruesomely killed Adamu Commander by slitting his throat.
“The deceased, who left behind two wives, was well known in the community. His death has thrown both his family and the people of Kwami into mourning and heightened concerns over the worsening insecurity in the region.”
