Former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo has been appointed as the new administrator for NPFL champions Enyimba ahead of the 2023-24 Nigerian Premier League season, replacing former chairman Felix Anyasi Agwu.
The Abia State government decided to dissolve the board of the People’s Elephant following the conclusion of the 2022-23 NPFL season, in which they won their ninth league crown.
It resulted in Anyasi Agwu losing his position as Chairman after 24 years at the helm of the club’s affairs. His reign brought nine league titles, two CAF Champions League crowns, two CAF Super Cups, four Nigerian Federation Cups and four Nigerian Super Cups.
To replace Anyasi Agwu, the state governor, Dr Alex Otti appointed former Super Eagles captain and Nigerian football legend Kanu Nwankwo as the new Chairman of the club.
Kanu will work with former teammate and now Enyimba manager Finidi George, with whom he played in the Super Eagles and won the UEFA Champions League in 1995 with Ajax.
