The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD) has received with deep sadness the news of the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the entire nation over this irreparable loss.
President Muhammadu Buhari was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political and military history, whose life was defined by service, discipline, and dedication to national unity. From his time as a young military officer to his leadership as Head of State in 1983 and his later return as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, Buhari left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape.
During his presidency, he pursued key policy agendas in anti-corruption, national security, and infrastructural development. His austere personal lifestyle, unwavering commitment to public accountability, and firm stance against graft inspired both national and international debates on governance and integrity.
While opinions may have varied on aspects of his administration, history will remember Muhammadu Buhari as a man of conviction who sought to steer Nigeria toward a path of discipline and self-reliance. His legacy will continue to shape public discourse, and his contributions to the nation’s evolution will remain a subject of scholarly reflection.
FOSAD stands in solidarity with the Buhari family and all Nigerians at this moment of grief. We encourage Nigerians to reflect on his life with sobriety and respect, and to draw lessons from his decades of service to the nation.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
