The former president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, has sued famous Afrobeat singer, Davido over an alleged breach of agreement.

Pinnick had on October 7, 2023, called out Davido over his failure to show up at the 19th edition of Warri Again Concert in Delta State.

The concert was held on October 6 to celebrate entertainers who hail from the Niger Delta region.

Pinnick, who is currently an executive of the world football governing body FIFA, accused Davido of receiving $94,600 to perform at the concert.

Also , he said a chartered plane “which cost another $18,000” was booked to convey Davido to Warri.

Reacting to this on his Instagram story, the singer vowed not to refund the money and assured his Warri fans of a performance soon.

He wrote: “If I’m returning any money I will return it to any football charity organization. In fact, I will double it. Mr Dream Crusher, imagine how many Nigerian footballers have had their dreams crushed because person one lives for Ikoyi by force.”

However in a new development, the organisers of the concert on Tuesday, filed a lawsuit of N2.3 billion against Davido Music Worldwide (DWM) Limited before a high court in Effurun, Delta.

The claimant, under the name Brownhill Investments Company Limited, is seeking damages of N2 billion, N30 million for the cost of filing the suit, legal and professional fees of N150 million.

Also, the company asks the court to order the singer to tender four days public apology in two national daily newspapers and on his social media accounts.

Brownhill Investments noted that the musicians’ breach of contract caused significant financial losses. The company had already expended humongous resources on print and social media adverts and promotions for the event. It also had to pay for the private jet and other expenses related to Davido’s performance.
