On Thursday, First Lady and Senator Oluremi Tinubu reflected on the stunning scenery of the Obafemi Awolowo University campus in Ile-Ife, Osun State, recalling her time as a student there.
Mrs. Tinubu expressed her concern that over the years, the campus’s lush greenery has significantly diminished. She urged for immediate initiatives to restore the environment, aiming to revive the beauty of the academic community.
On Thursday, she addressed the audience at the opening ceremony of the 2.7km Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, along with the impressive pavilion and monument located at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife.
This initiative was generously donated by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and is dedicated to the wife of the President.
While praising the initiatives named in her honor by the royal father, the First Lady expressed her appreciation for the gesture, noting that the occasion is one of several events planned to celebrate Oba Ogunwusi’s 50th birthday anniversary.
“People are not seeing what God is doing in the land, nations across the globe want to do business with us. We know that subsidy has been removed but with God on our side in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this. My husband is not the cause of the current hardship.” She said.
