Federal University Dutsin-Ma confirms release of all its kidnapped female students in Katsina

All kidnapped female students of Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State have been released, SaharaReporters reports.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi, confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Friday.

SaharaReporters on October 4, 2023, reported how a source revealed that the terrorists on Wednesday morning invaded the students’ private lodge along Moriamoh Ajiri School at Dutsin-Ma and kidnapped no fewer than five female students of the university living in the area.

SaharaReporters further gathered that three of the abducted students hail from Kwara State, one is from Kano and the fifth one is from Niger State.

The students from Kwara were identified as Muhammad Fatima, Bello Fatima Zara, and Adam Rahmatallahi.

The names of the two other students had not been ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Also on November 20, 2023, SaharaReporters reported that one of the kidnapped female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria had been released by the terrorists after the payment of ransom.

SaharaReporters gathered from the family of one of the female students, identified as Muhammad Fatima Ruqqayat, that she regained her freedom on Sunday after spending over 45 days in the terrorists’ den.

While confirming the release of the remaining four students, Prof Bichi did not indicate whether any ransom was paid to rescue them.
