The family of Chief Okuji Okonkwo Awa (OON) has announced the date for his burial.
This was contained in a press release signed by his first son, Engr. Okonkwo Okuji Awa and made available to the general public recently.
He noted that activities for the burial of the former Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs will commence from March
20th to March 30th 2025.
According to him, the burial arrangements starts on Thursday, March 20, 2025 with the Service of Songs at Lagos Presbyterian Church, 394 Murtala Mohammed Way, Yaba, Lagos at 5 pm.
“Wake keep will hold at 8 pm on Friday, March 28, 2025 at his Mayflower Villa residence in Ndi Ebe Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State
“Lying in state comes up at 9 am at his residence on Saturday, March 29, 2025, while burial service will hold same day at 11 am at the Presbyterian Church, Ndi Ebe Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Abia State. Internment follows immediately at his residence same day at 1 pm.
“Thanksgiving service will hold on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 11 am at the Presbyterian Church, Ndi Ebe Abam, Abia State,” the statement revealed.
Chief Awa was born on November 21, 1936. He died in Lagos after a brief illness on November 23, 2024. Aged: 88 years.
He is survived by wife, children and grandchildren.
Until his death, he was a renowned philanthropist, father to everyone who knew him and community builder.
