EFCC personnel slumps and dies in Lagos

A yet-to-be identified officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has slumped and died in Lagos.

According to a video being circulated online, the officer who was not in uniform slumped on a street in an undisclosed part of Lagos State on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

The video shows the lifeless body of the officer surrounded by sympathizers including some police officers.

The officers searched the deceased’s bag and found his identity card.

“He works with EFCC. His ID card is with him,” a voice in he video said.

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, who confirmed the officer’s death to The PUNCH disclosed that the case is under investigation.

“Yes, the man is our officer. His d3ath is being investigated. The incident happened on Sunday,” Oyewale said.
