he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspected internet fraudsters in a hotel in Niger State.
The suspects were apprehended on Thursday, February 27, 2025, according to a statement by EFCC Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that armed men posing as EFCC operatives had reportedly abducted 10 persons from White Hill Hotel on Shiroro Road, Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, intelligence sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 4:58 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2025.
According to Makama, the disabled the hotel’s CCTV cameras before entering guests’ rooms one by one and forcibly taking away guests to an unknown destination.
The report said the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Intelligence Department (Acpol SID), confirmed that investigations were ongoing to identify the perpetrators and locate the abducted victims.
However, according to the agency, the arrests took place in broad daylight at White Hotel, Chanchangi Local Government Area in Niger State, following credible intelligence about their involvement in fraudulent internet activities.
It noted that items recovered from the suspects include two vehicles and 13 phones of various brands.
The EFCC emphasized that the arrests were conducted professionally, with no indication of abduction.
Oyewale said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
