Veteran musician, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has debunked widespread rumours of his death, affirming that he is alive, healthy and in good spirits.
In a video on Tuesday morning, the 83-year-old music legend appeared cheerful and full of life as he addressed the false claims with a spirited musical performance.
Singing in a mix of Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, Obey-Fabiyi declared:
“Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi. Satan, you don lose o, Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk, you don pafuka.”
He followed the song with a statement to the public.
He said:
“It is fake news that started a few hours ago claiming that I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on to glory. It is a lie. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”
The false news of Ebenezer Obey’s death, which emerged on Monday, rapidly spread across social media, sparking a wave of premature tributes and condolences from fans and well-wishers.
