Presidential aspirant and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, has admonished Nigerians to strengthen their commitment to love and sacrifice for one another and for the nation.

The admonition is contained in his 2022 Easter message released by his Media office on Friday.

The statement said that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential hopeful for the 2023 general election “reminded Nigerians that Easter marks the greatest sacrifice ever made for the betterment of mankind when Jesus Christ offered himself to be crucified for the redemption of world.”

The statement quoted Anyim as saying that the message of love, which Easter represents, must not be lost to Nigerians, while urging Nigerians to remain strong in the face of economic hardships and worsening security situation in the country.

He was quoted as saying, “The message of love and sacrifice which Easter embodies must not be lost on Nigerians.

“I encourage all Nigerians to imbibe these virtues which Jesus Christ taught us in our personal lives and in our service to our great country, Nigeria, particularly as we participate in the transition activities that will lead to the election of new set of leaders for our nation in 2023.

“Let us remain strong in faith and fervent in prayers for the mercy and intervention of God in our lives and the affairs of our country.

“As Jesus Christ sacrificed his life for all sinners without exception, I urge our leaders at all levels to continue to make sacrifices and demonstrate empathy, love and fairness in their dealings with all Nigerians.

“It is my prayer that God will hear the cries of Nigerians over their economic misery and insecurity and provide the country with the right leadership in 2023 that will be capable of bringing these sufferings to an end.”

The statement noted that Anyim wished all Nigerians a spirit-filled and joyful 2022 Easter celebration.
