The recent End Bad Governance protests in Nigeria have left a trail of economic devastation, with estimated losses of N500 billion. However, amidst the chaos, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), under the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Audi, emerged as a shining example of strategic planning and professionalism.

While other security chiefs opted for brute force, intimidation, and threats against peaceful protesters, NSCDC took a refreshingly different approach. By deploying civil techniques, they ensured the protection of critical national assets, minimizing damage and loss.

The Commandant General, has worked tirelessly before and during the protest, gathering intelligence and deploying officers to locations where national assets were vulnerable to attacks or damage. This proactive approach significantly reduced economic losses and showcased the corps’ commitment to protecting the nation’s interests.

Through his exemplary leadership, Dr. Audi has demonstrated a deep understanding of the complexities of modern security threats, leveraging intelligence gathering and strategic deployments to stay ahead of potential threats. His proactive approach has not only protected national assets but also sent a strong message to would-be vandals and arsonists, reinforcing the corps’ zero-tolerance stance on violence and destruction of property.

the NSCDC boss, has maintained a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding the mishandling or accidental discharge of firearms, ensuring that personnel adhere to the highest standards of weapon handling and discipline

Audi’s leadership style in NSCDC has paid off, setting a new standard for security operations in Nigeria. By achieving effective protection and minimal damage through strategic planning, professionalism, and restraint, the NSCDC has proven that a more secure and stable future is possible.

As Nigeria moves forward, it is crucial to recognize the NSCDC’s successes in maintaining peace and stability and build on their proactive approach and professionalism. By emulating their strategic planning and crowd control techniques, Nigeria can ensure sustained economic growth and development, maintain peace and stability in the face of challenges, and showcase a model for effective security operations in Africa.

In a glowing commendation, His Excellency, the Governor of Adamawa State, has praised the NSCDC for its outstanding performance in ensuring safety and security in the state. The accolades come on the heels of the NSCDC’s successful handling of the 10-day #EndBadGovernance protest.

In a letter to the NSCDC, the Governor acknowledged the corps’ unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order, highlighting their exceptional professionalism, tireless efforts, and dedication to protecting lives and property.

Since his appointment in February 2021, Dr. Abubakar Audi has revolutionized the NSCDC with his exceptional leadership, hard work, and professionalism. In just three years, he has achieved remarkable feats, earning widespread admiration and respect.

His  tenure has marked a significant departure from the past, showcasing a refreshing approach to leadership. His unwavering patriotism, courage, and commitment to quality leadership have raised the bar for his predecessors and successors alike

In the last three years, NSCDC has undergone a remarkable transformation, achieving:

– Enhanced protection of national assets

– Increased morale and motivation among personnel

This transformation is a testament to the visionary leadership of the Commandant General, Dr. Abubakar Audi, who has spearheaded a culture of excellence and accountability within the corps. By prioritizing training, community engagement, and strategic planning, Dr. Audi has positioned the NSCDC as a model for effective security operations, earning the trust and admiration of Nigerians and setting a new standard for security agencies in the country.

As a journalist, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative impact of Dr. Audi’s leadership. His approach has been a breath of fresh air, inspiring confidence and hope in the corps’ ability to protect and serve the nation.

Dr. Audi’s achievements will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy, inspiring future generations of leaders to emulate his exemplary leadership. His impact on the NSCDC and Nigeria as a whole will be remembered for years to come.

Audi has set a new standard of excellence for the NSCDC, demonstrating that with effective leadership, the corps can achieve great things. His legacy will continue to inspire and motivate personnel to strive for excellence in their duties.
