Democracy Day: The fall of Tinubu and its implications

Nigeria today celebrates the 25th anniversary of the return of Democracy after military rule had taken a bigger chunk of her youthfulness. Today would have been the 31st anniversary of democracy if June 12th was allowed to see the light of the day.

Looking through the ambience of Eagle’ Square, the nice parade of the military, the display of the various dance troupes and the very dignifying way His Excellency President Tinubu was heralded into the Eagle’ Square with all presidential paraphernalia, the desire to become the President of the largest populated country in Africa becomes very obsessive.

Inside the box at the Square I saw hawks, hyenas, dragons etc very fat and fresh, glowing and dazzling from the very blood they suck from Nigeria daily.

Nigeria is a land of possibilities. A natural paradise where milk and honey grow on rocks. A Cannan land, even stones and rubbles are turned into liquid cash.

Nigeria is blessed, so blessed, what other nations can’t manage and scrape through, Nigerians dance around them with joy and happiness.

Nigeria is so blessed, even in her dark days of lack and hunger, many still find her very attractive, full of prospects to still be a destination point.

Still on.the EagleSquare! The largest portrait on canvass in Africa displaying the image of Mr President was unveiled. Good art work but not a masterpiece to take anybody’ breath. What informed such,? On democracy day? On June 12 when the anniversary of the struggle and victory of MKO Abiola were butchered and ignomiously buried without scruples are remembered? Why Tinubu? As the face of democracy? Or the founding father of democracy?

Nigerians are filled with cheap ingratiation , lousy sycophantic disposition and infantile truckling, fetching and carrying for handouts.

Then the fall! The mighty fall! Falling like pack of cards many described it. A headlong fall, without having anything to prop him up.

This isn’t something to make fun of! It isn’t a scene to provide hilarious mien. Rather it calls for deeper reflection on the lessons for the fall.

Who hasn’t fallen? Jesus fell. Popes at different times fell. Saul fell from a horse height. Check around your environment, many have fallen. Falling isn’t an issue, what happens after the fall remains the biggest concern.

Mr.Tinubu’ fall at the Eagle’ Square at the 25th anniversary of democracy in Nigeria isn’t an ordinary fall. It was a poignant and succinct portrayal of his one year in office. He fell and failed on his first year as the President of Nigeria.

He fell and failed on his renewed hope mandate. He fell and failed on subsidy removal. He fell and failed on food security. He fell and failed on his promises.

He fell! Did he get up? I didn’t see that part in the clip that has been in circulation. I hope he got up like Saul did on the road to Damascus. If he did get up, just like Saul he may get
another chance of the hope and trust of Nigerians already lost.

Heaven and Earth today have seen the colossal fall of Mr President’ in his agenda

Nigeria will rise again even if Mr Tinubu refuses to rise from his today’s fall!
