Court remands cleaner for stealing bottle of Hennessy worth N290,000

A Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Wednesday ordered that a 23-year-old cleaner, Abdurasheed Yahaya be remanded after he pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of Hennessy worth N290,000.

The Magistrate, Mr M.E. Owumi,  remanded him in a correctional centre in Lagos.

Owumi adjourned the case until Jan. 31 for sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Samuel Ishola told the court that Yahaya committed the offence on Jan. 9 at TAT Restaurant, located at Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ishola alleged that Yahaya, who was a cleaner at the bar, stole Hennessy valued at N290,000 where it was kept in the bar, property of TAT Restaurant.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
