Breaking: Atiku Abubakar wins PDP presidential primaries

Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner in the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party Special National Convention held in Abuja to elect the presidential flag bearer of the party.

Atiku won the presidential primaries with 371 votes to defeat his closest rival governor Nyesom Wike of River State who polled 237 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Atiku Abubakar pledged to unify all Nigerians irrespective of tribe or faith. He also promised to confront the security and economic challenges of Nigeria. Atiku called on his fellow contestants to cooperate and work with him.

Other contestants got the following votes:

Anyim Pius Anyim – 14, Tare Oliver – 1, Sam Ohuabunwa – 1, Udom Emmanuel – 38, Bala Mohammed – 20, Bukola Saraki – 70, Dele Momodu – 0

While making his speech before the voting process commenced, Governor Wike promised to work with whoever emerged the presidential candidate of PDP.
