The Benue State House of Assembly has suspended four lawmakers for three months over alleged moves to impeach the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.
Those affected by the suspension are Alfred Berger, spokesman of the House and representative of Makurdi North State Constituency, Cyril Ekong of Oju 2, Abu Umoru of Apa, and Shimawua Terna of Kyan State Constituency.
In the wake of the suspension, the Assembly announced changes in its leadership structure. Kennedy Angbo was named the new Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya became Deputy Chief Whip, while Elias Audu was appointed as the new spokesman of the House.
At Friday’s plenary, the Assembly also began the screening of five commissioner nominees. Two nominees, Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza, are scheduled to be screened at a later date.
