It was pomp and pageantry, a gathering of eminent Nigerians from all parts of the country as former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim celebrated his 61st birthday on19th February, 2022.
The event which took place at the International Conference Center (ICC) Abuja was chaired by former President Goodluck Jonathan while President Muhammadu Buhari was the Special Guest of Honour.
Other guests at the occasion include former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Boss Mustapha, Nyesom Wike, Theodore Orji, Dino Melaye, Adolphus Wabara, Mike Ozekhome, Kenneth Okonkwo, members of the National Assembly, PDP members etc.
In his speech, President Buhari who of the Federation was represented by Secretary to the Government (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha extolled the leadership and administration expertise of the celebrant during his tenure as both Senate President and SGF.
Dr Goodluck Jonathan on his part recalled how his administration zoned the position of the SGF to the South East and the lot fell on Pius Anyim because of his sterling qualities. He said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ensured that power was shared equitably among the six geopolitical zones to reflect federal character during his tenure in office and Anyim never disappointed him.
Other speakers at the event described the celebrant as hardworking, meticulous, political master strategist, team player, efficient administrator and a very loyal humble detribalized Nigerian.
Over a hundred support groups for Anyim 2023 presidential aspiration were announced and received certificates during the event.
The United Nigeria Group (UNG) led by Mazi Dickson Iroegbu presented a giant customized birthday card to the celebrant.
In his vote of thanks, Anyim Pius Anyim expressed gratitude for the encomiums poured on him by fellow colleagues in and outside government and specially commended Former President Goodluck Jonathan for the opportunity offered to him to serve as SGF at the executive arm. He reiterated that Jonathan will forever remain his boss.
There were also goodwill messages from Former President Ibrahim Babangida, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop David Abioye, Professor George Obiozor and other distinguished personalities.
