Men of the Anambra state police command attached to its Rapid Response Squad have arrested one Uchenna Uchegbu, 25, a member of criminal gang terrorizing Orumba South Local Government Area.
A statement from the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, says the gang allegedly committed a heinous crime in Umucheke Village on June 2, 2025, including:
dispossessing a 68-years old man of his belongings after blindfolding and tying him up and r@ping the man’s 23-years old daughter. Ikenga mentioned that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being involved in a similar incident on May 23, 2025, where a 52-years old woman was robbed and r@ped.
He mentioned that the suspect added that the 52-year-old lost consciousness, was hospitalized, and later confirmed dead by a doctor.
Ikenga added that police operatives are currently utilizing the information from the suspect to intensify efforts in dismantling the criminal network in the area.
He added that this strategic approach aims to disrupt and apprehend other members of the gang, potentially preventing further crimes.
