As the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is hoping that the recognition of High Chief Jude Okeke as the party’s National Chairman is only backed by a Jigawa State High Court Judgement and consequently, battling the judgement at various courts, the confusion rocking the party over its leadership and candidacy is likely not to end soon following a ruling by a High Court of Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory presided over by Justice Bello Kawu on June 28, 2021 which also confirmed High Chief Jude Okeke as the party’s authentic National Chairman.

Delivering judgement in Suit No. FCT/BW/CV/133/21 between Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Chief Jude Okeke and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the court declared that the Notice of Primary Election for the Anambra State Governorship Election of APGA issued and served on INEC by Alhaji Yusuf is valid, lawful and in accordance with the party’s constitution. The Court also declared that Chief Jude Okeke having appointed or elected as the Acting National Chairman of APGA by the National Executive Committee of the party has the powers and a bounden legal obligation to proceed with, hold and conduct the Primary Election of the party which took place on July 1, 2021.

Also in the ruling, the court ordered INEC either by itself, staff, officers, agents or howsoever to observe/or monitor same Primary Election of APGA which was conducted on July 1, 2021. The Court further ordered Chief Jude Okeke and APGA either by themselves, officers, privies, agents or howsoever to proceed with, hold, organize and conduct the Primary Election of the party for the Anambra State Governorship Election on July 1, 2021 for the purpose of nominating the Candidate of the party for the Anambra State Governorship Election.

With this judgement, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji has been further affirmed as the Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election. Chief Umeoji won the Primary conducted by Chief Jude Okeke on July 1, 2021.
