Evidence of good leadership continues to manifest in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State as benefits continue to flow ceaselessly to the apex Igbo body, vindicating the popular, majority decision of Ndigbo in Lagos who overwhelmingly voted High Chief Leonard Okafor, Oba Ojoto, as President.
The 5th Edition of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State General Assembly Meeting hosted at Peninsula Hotels and Resort, Ajah, Lekki, has further proven that Ohanaeze is no longer just the apex socio-cultural organisation of Ndigbo, but now a formidable gathering to foster common goals – a vibrant brotherhood where Ndigbo eat and wine together, exchange contacts, secure welfare, and maintain the rich, undiluted Igbo culture.

The mammoth assembly recorded an impressive turnout of prominent Igbo leaders, traditional titleholders, chiefs, presidents of town unions and community associations, former presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and women leaders, all united under one umbrella.
Hosted by the visionary President, Chief Leonard Okafor, Oba Ojoto, alongside his executive council, the meeting commenced with opening prayer by Chief C.F.C. Obi and breaking of kolanut by Onyendu Gerald Onuchukwu, supported by Eze Ndigbo Eti-Osa East and Eze Ndigbo Ajah, Eze Bernard Nwoke.
General Secretary, Chief Mike Orji, presented minutes of the previous meeting which highlighted harmonisation of Ohanaeze structure and elections across 57 LCDAs in Lagos, insurance coverage for members and collective welfare contributions.

In his address, Chief Okafor thanked members for defying distance and traffic, commended Eti-Osa for hosting, and announced that arrangements for the comprehensive insurance scheme have been concluded, urging members to key in promptly against unforeseen circumstances.
He harped on harmonisation of electoral structure for coordinated leadership and addressed the anticipated fact-finding committee from Enugu, urging open mind, reconciliation and unity rather than division, reassuring members there was no need for apprehension and that there would be no further election in Lagos State.
What has continued to make Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos wax stronger, wax bigger and wax more united is the overwhelming support Okafor enjoys. Several Igbo leaders at the meeting expressed profound gratitude for the emergence of Chief Leonard Okafor, describing his leadership as one of the best, most transparent and most progressive in the history of Ohanaeze in Lagos. They pledged unflinching support, offered prayers for his success and vowed to sustain the new tempo of peace, progress and prosperity.

Adding colour and cultural grandeur, Onyendu Gerald Onuchukwu celebrated the New Yam Festival, Iri Ji, showcasing authentic Igbo heritage and the spirit of community fellowship that now defines Ohanaeze gatherings – where business contacts are exchanged, friendships deepened and culture preserved.
Indeed, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos under Chief Leonard Okafor has metamorphosed from a mere socio-cultural apex body to a dynamic, beneficial, welfare-driven family of common destiny. From insurance to unity, from eating and wining together to exchanging contacts and upholding Igbo culture, the benefits are glaring. No wonder majority of Ndigbo are grateful and are rallying support – and that is why Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos continues to wax stronger, meeting after meeting.
