A satirical gilded statue depicting United States President Donald Trump in the nude has gone on display at the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France.

The artwork, titled “Orange Plague” and also known as “King of Injustice,” was created by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt and unveiled at the European Parliament’s headquarters on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The controversial sculpture depicts Trump sitting naked on the shoulders of a much smaller man while holding a long golf club in one hand.

The statue, including its pedestal, stands about 2.5 metres tall. According to Galschiøt, the sculpture is coated in 23-karat gold.

The artwork was initially covered with an orange cloth before being unveiled to visitors and officials at the parliament complex.

The statue has been positioned at one of the busiest intersections of the European Parliament building, where it connects two sections of the complex. It is expected to remain on display until Thursday, October 8.

Galschiøt was invited to exhibit the work by Per Clausen, a Danish left-wing member of the European Parliament.

Defending the exhibition, Clausen said the European Parliament should be a place where political expression and satire can be displayed, even when the subject matter is provocative.

“If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture being exhibited in the European Parliament, then they have no place on the world stage,” Clausen said.

The sculpture is accompanied by business cards featuring a satirical statement attributed to the artwork’s fictional “King of Injustice.”

The statement reads: “I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under the burden. I would do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back.”

The exhibition comes amid continued political debate in Europe and the United States over Trump’s policies, leadership style and international relations.

Galschiøt is known for using provocative sculptures and public artworks to comment on political power, inequality, human rights and social injustice.

By placing the statue inside the European Parliament, the artist and its organisers have presented the work as a form of political satire intended to provoke discussion about power and leadership.

The unusual display has also attracted attention because of its prominent location within the parliament complex and its deliberately provocative depiction of the US president.

The artwork is scheduled to remain on display through October 8, after which it is expected to be removed from the European Parliament premises.
