A video capturing a brazen, daylight robbery by suspected armed criminals targeting Point of Sale (POS) operators at the popular Aroma Junction in Awka, Anambra State, has gone viral on social media. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The assailants arrived at the bustling junction in a tricycle, popularly known as a Keke NAPEP. Operating with shocking audacity in broad daylight, the criminals moved systematically from one POS kiosk to another. The gunmen brandished sophisticated weapons, terrorising the operators and forcing them to hand over large sums of daily cash receipts.
According to eyewitnesses, this Incident marks the third consecutive attack on POS businesses in the immediate area. Many lament that these targeted robberies have continued completely unabated. An eyewitness stated that the situation is getting out of hand, noting that the criminals now operate without any fear.
The video also highlighted a glaring absence of law enforcement during the crisis. Panic-stricken residents and passersby could be seen fleeing the scene for their lives, with no security personnel in sight to intervene or repel the attackers.
