Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has opened up about his current health challenges, revealing that he is not feeling well and that walking has become difficult for him.
The celebrated actor disclosed this while visiting his longtime friend and colleague, Emmanuel Armah, who is also reportedly battling health challenges.
During the visit, Edochie spoke about his own condition, saying that although he has experienced difficulties with his health, he remains hopeful that he will recover.
The veteran actor said he currently experiences swelling in different parts of his body, noting that the swelling sometimes reduces after a period of time.
“Sitting down here, I’m not very well, myself, I’m not. Walking is a problem for me now, but, I still have hope that I will recover myself,” Edochie said.
He added that some parts of his body sometimes become swollen before returning to normal.
“Sometimes I get up and parts of my body are swollen and after some time they go down again. Like my hand is swollen now, my leg…” he said.
Despite the challenges, the veteran actor expressed his faith in God and said he continued to leave his future in divine hands.
Edochie said he had prayed that whenever the time came for him to die, God should take him peacefully rather than allow him to become a burden to those around him.
“I just keep asking God, ‘you are the author of life. Whenever you feel it is time for me to go, just take me. Don’t let me bother the people who are around me. So, just take me,’” he said.
His comments have drawn attention from fans and colleagues who have continued to show concern over his wellbeing.
Edochie, one of the most recognisable figures in Nigerian cinema, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career spanning several decades. He has featured in numerous Nollywood productions and is widely respected for his distinctive acting style and commanding presence on screen.
His decision to speak publicly about his health came during a visit to Armah, another veteran actor who is reportedly dealing with health difficulties.
Rather than focusing solely on his own condition, Edochie used the occasion to visit and show support for his longtime colleague.
The actor’s remarks also highlighted his determination to remain hopeful despite the physical difficulties he described. While he said walking had become problematic, he maintained that he still believed he could recover.
Edochie did not disclose a specific medical diagnosis or provide details about the cause of the swelling and difficulty with movement. His comments therefore do not establish the nature or severity of any underlying medical condition.
The veteran actor’s disclosure has nevertheless prompted an outpouring of concern from admirers who have followed his career over the years.
Known for his roles in Nigerian films and television productions, Edochie has remained an influential figure in Nollywood and a respected elder within the industry.
His latest comments have once again brought attention to the health challenges that can accompany ageing, particularly among entertainers who have spent decades in demanding professional careers.
For now, Edochie said he remains hopeful about his recovery while continuing to place his trust in God.
