Rev. Nick Donnelly, a UK-based Catholic priest, has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue an arrest warrant for Nigerian Islamicย scholarย Sheikh Ahmad Gumi over what he described as extremist andย inflammatoryย remarks.
Donnelly made the call in a post shared on his X account on Monday.
His reaction followed Gumiโs recent comments dismissing claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria. In another viral video, Gumi had said:ย โHerdsmen are not like the Indigenous People of Biafra; they are kidnapping children to make money. Letโs be fair with them.โ
In response, Donnelly argued that Gumi should faceย prosecutionย for crimes against humanity.

The ICC needs to issue an arrest warrant on charges of crimes against humanity.
Gumi needs to stand trial in the Hague,โ he wrote.
The clericโs call comes amid renewed demands for Gumiโsย prosecution, especially following the recent life sentence handed to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu for terrorism.
Legalย practitionerย Malcolm Omirhobo also recently criticized what he described as Nigeriaโs two-tier justice systemโone that harshly punishes certain individuals while protecting others who allegedly commit serious offences openly.
