Veteran journalist and former presidential spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati, will on Friday, November 7, 2025, officially present three new books at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.

The books, published by Caltop Publications Nigeria Limited, are titled Portraits: People, Politics and Society, A Love Letter & Other Stories, and How Goodluck Jonathan Became President.

The event will also form part of activities marking his 60th birthday celebration.

According to the organisers, the books reflect Dr. Abati’s versatility and deep understanding of Nigeria’s political and social landscape.

They combine political analysis, societal commentary, and creative storytelling, offering readers a broad view of Nigeria’s evolving democracy and culture.

“Compelling, insightful, and relevant for our times. These works will serve as vital references for policymakers, media professionals, academics, students, and the public seeking informed perspectives on Nigeria and the world at large,” said Ayo Arowosegbe, the Managing Director of Caltop Publications.

Expected at the event are dignitaries from government, academia, the media, and the literary community who would gather to celebrate Dr. Abati’s decades of contributions to journalism, literature, and civic engagement.

Dr. Abati began his career as a lecturer in drama and literature at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. He later served as Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Guardian Newspaper before his appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He was also a member and co-presenter of the popular television discussion programme Patito’s Gang and has served on several public boards, including the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and the Governing Council of Olabisi Onabanjo University.

He currently co-anchors The Morning Show and Thisday Live on Arise TV and hosts City Talks with Reuben Abati on City 101.5 FM.

The event, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, is open to the public, with organisers describing it as a significant moment to honour one of Nigeria’s most respected voices in media and public affairs.
