Dr Uduak Udoh who was the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 gubernatorial election, gave the charge on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, while addressing the leadership and stakeholders of DFF at the Akwa Ibom State Headquarters of Opposition Coalition.

“You are the Awolowos and the Azikiwes of our time”, Obong Uduakobong praised the DFF, adding that the group’s resilience and foresight had provided the foundation upon which opposition coalition in the state thrived.

He continued “I want to also thank you all for your reliance, courage and foresight. I recall vividly that after the 2023 general elections where the results did not reflect your wishes, you did not retire to your Oases. You didn’t give up.

Instead, you continued the sensitization, believing that a new and better Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria is possible. Today, your efforts have yielded a tremendous impact, visible for everyone to see. I want to assure you that you shall reap bountiful rewards.

It is the future of our children and youths that are at stake. The coalition will use you to solve the question of leadership in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria. As you can see, we have given the people of Akwa Ibom State and alternative through the coalition.

Don’t rest on your Oases. Go back to your respective grassroots and do more mobilization knowing full well that your respective political interests would be protected”.

Earlier in his speech, the state Chairman of DFF, Mr Ikakke Bassey while extolling the exceptional leadership prowess of the 2023 guber candidate, commended him for accepting to steer the ship opposition parties coalition in the state.

He said “The Democratic Freedom Front is a platform for like-minded opposition political parties. Here you have members of the ADC, PDP, APC, YPP, and so on, who are not comfortable with the way things are going on politically and economically in the state and Nigeria.

We are happy and proud to be associated with your leadership of the coalition, having believed totally in your exceptional leadership prowess. We want to assure you that we will continue to work hard until our state and Nigeria are led by people who have the masses interest at heart”

Also present at the Stakeholders’ meeting were the Chairman, Uyo Senatorial District of DFF; Obong Unwana Titus, Chairman, Board of Trustees; Chief (Dr) Asuquo Anwana, Board Secretary; Pst (Mrs.) Martina Umana and Board member, Obong Nkan Akpabio who is also the Coordinator of BIG TENT.
