A27-year-old Nigerian-born woman, Patricia Masithela, was tragically killed by a pack of starving dogs in Latina, Italy.
The attack occurred on Monday at a derelict house, where Patricia had gone to meet a friend, unaware that the friend was not home.
According to Mirror, neighbours alerted authorities after hearing her screams around 3 am.
Police shot two of the dogs to rescue Patricia, who suffered severe bite wounds and extensive bleeding.
Despite medical efforts, Patricia died at the hospital. The young woman leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter, a brother, and a sister.
The house was described by police as neglected and uninhabitable, and has been seized by the authorities for investigation.
Meanwhile, investigation has been launched, with the house owner, a 40-year-old man, being questioned.
Reports indicate that the dogs involved in the incident were malnourished and had a history of aggressive behavior.
Authorities have located the dogs’ owner and ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Patricia’s death. During the incident, police shot two dogs, resulting in the death of one and injuries to the other.
