In one of the biggest drug seizures so far, the Anti-Narcotics wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru, India have arrested a 40-year-old Nigerian woman on drug peddling charges and recovered 12kg of MDMA worth around Rs 24 crore from her.

The accused woman, Roselime Oluchi Ikeoha, was peddling drugs to her customers through a grocery shop which she is running in TC Palya for the last five years.

Roselime told police she got the drugs from another Nigerian woman in Mumbai.

“This is one of the largest drug seizures in Bengaluru and Karnataka,” City Police Commissioner, B Dayananda said on Tuesday.

“Acting on credible information, we sent men in decoy in the guise of purchasing drugs from Roselime. They met her at KR Pura bus stand, seized some MDMA from her and arrested her. After raiding her TC Palya residence, we seized 12kg of MDMA and 70 sim cards, obtained in different names.”

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that she supplied the drugs to foreign nationals, college students and private firms employees, who were her regular customers.

“Preliminary probe revealed that the accused used to source the drugs from her contact, a woman from Mumbai through various means of transportation. Efforts are on to secure the supplier who is on the run,” the officer said.

The accused who had come to Bengaluru on business visa five years ago had overstayed as her visa has since expired, he added.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners Act
