Azman Air has mandated all but eight of its entire workforce to embark on compulsory leave without pay.
This is even as the Nigerian airline has suspended operation.
In a circular signed by the Human Resources Manager, Magaji Mohammed Misau, dated 3rd August, 2023, only eight senior staff were exempted from the compulsory leave.
The circular titled โPlacement Of Leave Without Pay,โ read, โAs you are aware our domestic operations have been put on hold for a while, due to the conveyance of our Aircraft for C-Checks and the MROSโ has given a longer time of completion write and communicate its decision that all staff has been placed on Leave Without Pay with effect from 1โ August, 2023โณ.
The Azman Air Public Relations Officer, Nurudeen Aliyu, noted that maintenance of aircrafts led to the development.
He revealed that the airlineโs domestic operation and staff members are meant to resume in October 2024.
โTwo of our aircrafts are in maintenance and 3 are due for C-check and thatโs why we suspended our domestic operation. Our aircraft will be back in October.
โThe overhead is heavy so the management decided to put the company on hold,โ Aliyu stated.
Azman Airline has faced problems in the past, with its license suspended in 2022, over a N1.2billion ticket sales debt and expiration of documents.
