The fire resulted in an extensive damage to property and valuables, leaving several traders affected.

In a statement on Friday through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the President said he offered his heartfelt sympathies to the victims, promising that his administration would provide necessary support to help them recover from the loss.

He reiterated his commitment to mitigating their sufferings and ensuring the market’s swift recovery, vowing to take measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The President urged caution and adherence to essential safety measures to prevent fire outbreaks and other accidents.

The popular Karu market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, had been gutted by fire while goods worth millions of naira were destroyed.

The devastating fire broke out at Karu Market around 7pm on Thursday, after traders had closed their stalls for the day.

Firefighters from Karu and Nyanya stations promptly responded to the emergency, rushing to the scene to extinguish the flames.

However, the firefighting efforts were temporarily hindered when the vehicles in Karu ran out of water, necessitating a call for backup to continue battling the inferno.
