As part of political campaigns for the November 11 governorship election, Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has promised to secure employment in Europe and Canada for 4000 youths by December, 2023. He also promised to pay for their air tickets.
He disclosed this during a parley with youths in the state.
He said:
“Let me tell you something. I have gone further to negotiate with European Union companies and Canadian companies. They are sending us special areas of skills which our youths will also learn. By December this year, 4000 youths will be employed in Europe. And once your employment letter comes, the governor will pay for your air tickets.”
Uzodinma’s speech has been criticised and condemned on social media for his inability to industrialize Imo State and employ the youths rather than sending them abroad.
