King Charles III alongside Queen Camilla was crowned on the 6th of May, 2023 in a well attended colourful state event at the Westminster Abbey.
King Charles acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.

In his congratulatory message, OmoBarca hailed the new King for his forthrightness and humility to serve and not to be served as he expressed in his acceptance speech during his crowning by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.
OmoBarca expressed optimism that Charles III will sustain the age-long tradition of protecting the interest of the Commonwealth nations and maintaining peace within and outside its territories.
He prayed the King who is 74 years old to ensure that the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom is intensified for the benefit of both countries and traditional institutions.
OmoBarca who is a frequent visitor to the UK also prayed for Charles III long and fruitful reign for the good and betterment of humanity.
Charles and Camilla’s coronation was the first of a British monarch in the 21st century and the 40th coronation to be held at Westminster Abbey since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066.
