The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has visited Niger State as part of his widespread consultation for his ambition to contest the 2023 Presidential election.
Wike, who visited a former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, in Minna on Monday, was in the company of his colleagues from Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, and former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam.
The group held a closed-door meeting with Abdulsalami and when asked after the meeting what they came for, they refused to comment.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, said that they were in Minna to consult with the former military head of state regarding the state of the nation.
โI have come with my colleagues, the Governors of Enugu, Oyo, Rivers and some members of the National Assembly to consult with the former Head of State and President and discuss national issues and the problems affecting our country,โ he said.
He added that they were in Minna to discuss the security situation and economic development of the country.
