As the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) draws closer, female party members and supporters are insisting that the 35% inclusion for women must be strictly observed both at the National Working Committee (NWC) and the State Executive level.
Most of the women in PDP are dissatisfied about having only the women leader as member of the NWC. They wondered why the 35% of all positions reserved for women has never been adhered to. The women insinuate that PDP only engage women when it is expedient and usually dump them after achieving party aims and objectives.
A popular PDP female politician expressed displeasure with the manner women are not offered their due rights in the party NWC. She complained about women not being encouraged to join party politics and contest for offices because of this male domineering attitude.
She also appealed to PDP party leaders not to emulate the ruling APC in relegating women to the background in elective positions by ensuring that all offices in PDP accommodates women and reward their efforts at building the party.
The PDP National Convention is scheduled to hold on the 30th of October, 2021.
