…as State Chairman, others meet in Oron

Coming together under the umbrella of Opposition Coalition, comprising different political parties, has been identified as a very simple machinery with which to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments at states and national levels.
The leader of Opposition Coalition in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Uduakobong Udoh, dropped the hint yesterday in Oron local government area during the Oron Federal Constituency Stakeholders’ meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) hosted by Chief Asuquo Anwana at his residence.
Chief Anwana who was the Director-General of Uduakobong/Ebongo 2023 LP Governorship Campaign Council in Akwa Ibom State, is the current State Vice Chairman of the ADC in Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District.
Speaking at the well-attended meeting, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Dr. Uduakobong Udoh, commended the ADC stakeholders for, according to him, fighting a just cause to rescue the state from the destructive grasp of bad governance.
“I must say that I am impressed with the turnout for this meeting. This is a clear testimony that people are not happy with
APC-led governments at the state and national levels”, Udoh reasoned, stressing the need for a united force.
He decried the hardship being faced by Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians, noting that “the people shall decide, come 2027”.
He stated further “We are here at the residence of the man who was Director-General of my Campaign Council in 2023. That was in the Labour Party, but today, he is in the ADC.
I have also seen many faces of the Labour Party members. I can also see some members of other political parties like the PDP, APC, YPP and so on. That is the beauty of democracy. Everyone has the right to join any new political party at anytime he feels that the government in power is no longer serving the masses’ interest.
All the opposition political parties must come together under one umbrella and ensure that come 2027, the people decide who govern them. The very simple way is for all of us to come together under the umbrella of Opposition Coalition and whoever emerge as governorship candidate, Senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly candidates, we support them. We must unite for victory and I can assure you that it is possible”.
Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman of ADC, Rt. Hon Duke Dick charged the Chapter Chairmen and Stakeholders to go to their respective domains and continue the membership drive for the party. He used the forum to introduce the five ADC chapter Chairmen in the Federal Constituency, maintaining that any other person parading as Chapter Chairman outside the persons at the meeting, was an impostor.
He went on to present the following Chapter Chairmen: Rev (Dr) Robert Uloh -Okobo Chapter, Comrade Bassey Etim Iquoh – Oron Chapter, Eyo, Samuel Williams – Mbo Chapter, Pst. Etim Okon Obiosuo – Udung Uko Chapter and Prince Friday Edet Mkperedem – Urue Offong Oruko.
Others who attended the meeting were the State Secretary of ADC; Mr. Donald Udofia, National Chairman of Democratic Freedom Front, DFF; Mr. Ikakke Bassey, BoT Secretary; Mrs. Martina Umana, State Vice Chairman, Akwa Ibom Northeast (Uyo) Senatorial District of DFF, Obong Unwana Isaiah, BoT member, Mr King Akpabio, amongst others.
