(Photos) Erelu Ngozi Adeleke at the United Nations General Assembly

The First Lady of Osun State, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, was among the attendees at the just concluded United Nations General Assembly held in New York.

The wife of Governor Ademola Adeleke utilized the opportunity to meet and hold talks with Commissioners of New York at the New York City Mall. She was accompanied during the visit by the wife of the Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Mrs. Adenine Igbalaye.

She wrote on her Facebook wall:

“Today, I had the privilege of visiting City Hall in New York City where I engaged in discussions with the Commissioners of New York. Accompanying me was the wife of the Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Mrs. Adenine Igbalaye.

During my visit, I met with the New York City Commissioner for Cultural Affairs, Hon. Laurie Cumbo. We explored avenues for collaborations and initiatives to promote cultural exchange between Osun State and New York City.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet with the Commissioner of International Affairs, Mr. Edward Mermelstein and was given a tour of the chambers where the New York City lawmakers make laws. The discussions delved into avenues for enhancing international relations and fostering partnerships beneficial for both Osun State and New York City.

Furthermore, we highlighted the potential for business opportunities and investment partnerships between New York City and Osun State.

I want to express sincere gratitude to the Commissioners of New York City for their warm welcome and look forward to further collaborations and partnerships for the greater good of our people.”

Mrs Adeleke also met with the Nigerian contingent to UNGA. These include Dr. (Mrs.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission. I also held a brief meeting with Ambassador Lot Egopija, the Nigerian Consul General in New York City, as well as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development of Nigeria, Festus Kenyamo (SAN), Rev’d Bunmi Jenyo, the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, and Mrs. Igbalaye, the wife of the Osun State SSG, at the Nigerian House in New York City.

She also held a productive session with Madam Linda Middleton, an NGO investor and met with Hon. (Mrs.) Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, the Minister of Women Affairs.

“Additionally, I had the honour of conversing with Distinguished Senator Ajagunla Olubiyi Fadeyi representing the good people of Osun Central senatorial district, at the Lagos Restaurant in New York City.

Throughout these engagements, I had the opportunity to discuss strategies for attracting investment to Nigeria, particularly Osun State, with individuals from diverse backgrounds. As part of these efforts, I participated in interviews with Channels UK and AIT New York City in America. The overarching goal of these endeavours is to encourage investment in the state for the collective benefit of all.” She said.
