2023: We are recruiting leadership, we must get it right – Anyim tells PDP former ministers at a meeting (video)

Former Senate President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Anyim Pius Anyim in continuation of consultation for PDP ticket, met with former ministers to discuss the way forward and strategize on winning the 2023 elections.

Anyim told the gathering that he has the capacity to stabilize Nigeria with focus on political, economic and social cohesion policies having served as Senate President and Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF). He reminded the ministers that majority of them worked with him when he held both positions and never had any form of misunderstanding or quarrels with them.

Anyim sought the support of the former ministers and reiterated the fact Nigeria is in the process of leadership recruitment. He emphasized that PDP must get the leadership recruitment process right in order to leader the country back to growth, prosperity and stability.

The presidential hopeful thereafter offered himself to serve Nigeria.

He said:

“I have worked as Senate President. I have worked as SGF which is the engine room of the presidency where all of you provided the fire. My experience is cognate. I am not going to learn on the job. I understand Nigeria. I do not need to come to Abuja to understand how many tribes we have in Nigeria. I have lived in Abuja for 33 years and I have worked with all of you in the past. The theme of my campaign is Greater Nigeria 2023. I believe Nigeria can be great again because I have had series of consulations. I want to say that the former ministers forum must rise to the occasion. The challenge before us today is numerous. We should be able to think for the nation and think for our party. The voice of conscience, reason and patriotism must rise from this ministers forum. Yes, I worked as SGF. If the SGF is the engine room, the ministers are the throttle that fires that engine. We have a duty to stabilize Nigeria. We have always worked as a team and never quarreled with any minister here.” Anyim told the former ministers who served under president Olusegun Obasanjo and president Goodluck Jonathan.

In attendance at the meeting were: Elder Godsday Orubebe, Mrs Josephine Anenih, Mrs Viola Onwuliri, Mr Labaran Maku, Mr Bolaji Abdulahi, Mr Osita Chidoka, Mrs Zainab Maina, Sen Sanusi Daggash, Mr Bukar Tijani, Mr Shamsudeen Usman, Alhaji Muktar Shagari, Mr Boni Haruna, Navy Capt. Omoniyi Caleb Olubolade (Rtd) etc.
