2023: I will only support a presidential candidate from the South – Ayo Fayose

The former governor of Ekiti State, Dr Ayodele Fayose has stated emphatically that he will only support a presidential candidate from the southern part of Nigeria in 2023.

He made this known while answering questions during an instagram live interview with the Chairman of Ovation group, Chief Dele Momodu. Duringthe session that lasted for about 90 minutes, the controversial ex- governor insisted that it was the turn of the Southerners to produce the next president of Nigeria.

When he was asked to name possible presidential candidates that he can support in his party PDP, Fayose named himself as the first candidate. He then gave the names of Mr. Peter Obi (former governor of Anambra State & Vice Presidential candidate of PDP in 2019), Mr. Nyesom Wike (Governor of Rivers State) and Mr. Seyi Makinde (Governor of Oyo State).

“If my party does not produce a southerner as presidential candiadte in 2023, I will hands off and stay in my house. For equity, justice and rotational presidency, it is the turn of the south to produce the next president of Nigeria because the north has had it for 8 years. And I will not support any candidate from APC. I always keep to my words. I am honourable enough to stand by my decision. I am not looking for contracts, I am not a contractor. The president in 2023 must come from the south” He said.

Ayo Fayose rounded off the interview by advising those Nigerians who became born again after supporting Buhari to endearvour to remain born again.
