2023: Group mobilize support for Peter Obi in Delta State

A socio-political group in Delta State, Delta Intellectuals Forum, has called on the people of the state to reject the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and all other parties but embrace the Labour Party at the 2023 general elections describing the LP’s presidential standard bearer, Mr Peter Obi, as a credible candidate that can rescue the nation from the present hardship and pandemic situation.

Speaking at the inauguration of the body in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday, the forum’s national Director-General, Dr. (Mrs) Felicia Onojeguo, insisted that the LP’s presidential candidate, Obi is “the only panacea the country needs to rescue her from the deepening quagmire presently tearing the nation apart”.

Onojeguo maintained that “both the PDP and APC have failed Nigerians, especially the latter that threw the nation into famine, insecurity, untoward killings and all forms of vices that could not be redeemed till date.”

She spoke further, “Among the predominant candidates is Peter Obi who, no doubt, has the interest of the suffering masses at heart. We should rally round the two-term Governor of Anambra State and a man with an unquestionable pedigree to move the nation forward from the present woes.”

The Delta Intellectuals Forum’s helmsman told the gathering pointedly that the emergence of the LP’s presidential candidate was “to rid the country of the avalanche of corruption and evils that have bedevilled it over the years.”

While lamenting that Nigeria is presently on the verge of total collapse as a result of bad governance and insecurity, she expressed the hope that Peter Obi will change the negative narratives, if given the opportunity come 2023.

She said, “Labour Party is made up of credible persons who can change the fortune of this country from poverty to enviable standard.

“It is our right to vote for someone who can wipe out all forms of evil in the land and make Nigeria proud again in the comity of nations.

“Presently, everybody is afraid to travel from one kilometre to another location. Enough is enough.  Everybody should be well prepared to support Peter Obi, devoid of ethnic, tribal and party affiliation and bring the messiah that can deliver Nigeria from the shackles of poverty, and bad governance that has reduced the integrity of this great African country to zero per cent.”

Also speaking, an executive member of the forum, Dr Mrakpor Messiah, assured that “everything will be done to throw away the ailing APC out of power come 2023.”
