The convener of Indigenous People of Nigeria, Mazi Dickson Iroegbu has frowned at the maligning and demonization of Igbos by some pastors in Nigeria.

Iroegbu was reacting to a recent homily by the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman where he described Igbos as being disunited and working against each other in the struggle for Biafra and politics.

In a statement made a available to DailyblastNG, Iroegbu warned the preacher who has been copiously accused of sleeping with his church members to desist from pulling down Igbos. He said Suleman is a mammon worshipper whose interest in the gospel is purely monetary.

Read part of the statement:

“It is unfortunate that most men of God are beginning to fan the embers of hate against the Igbos in Nigeria, It is becoming very obvious that Igbos are endangered species in a country where men of God who ought to be unifiers are now deliberately isolating a people so blessed for annihilation. The recent tirade against the Igbos by one of the worshippers of mammon, Apostle Johnson Suleman who went overdrive in an attempt to misinform the public is very disheartening and disgusting coming from a preacher. The other time it was Tunde Bakare and Biodun Fatoyinbo and now Apostle Suleman. What is it about the Igbo that is informing this deliberate attempt to malign their image? The narrative that Igbos work against themselves is another falsehood from a mammon worshipper with followers. The pulpit has become a money making machine for most of them. Igbos don’t worship money but rather believe in their God. You can’t hoodwink them to give to your ministry. The story Apostle Suleman painted about the Biafra struggle is a lie from the pit of hell. The history he told about Igbos working against Evan Enwerem and Chuba Okadigbo as senate presidents is also false. Only the Igbos cannot impeach the senate president in the National Assembly. I view Apostle Suleman’s shenanigan as an attempt to malign Senator Anyim Pius Anyim who is a frontline presidential aspirant. Let me educate him that the senate presidency at the time was zoned to the Igbos and it got to the turn of Anyim who stabilized the senate. Let this mammon worshippers stop endangering the lives of Igbos henceforth. Nigerians will hold them responsible if anything happens to Ndigbo. The Igbos do not worship man or mammon like Apostle Suleman. Every Igbo man must stand strong knowing that they are such a blessed people that are envied.”
