UNIMAID professor dies in domestic accident

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the death of Prof. Ruth Haruna Wazis, former Head of the Department of Business Management, University of Maiduguri, who tragically passed away in an accident at her home.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024.

Lawal said that the Prof. was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her on the ground and stepping her chest. 

He said that she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries before being taken to the hospital.

The police boss added that her remains were taken to the hospital by members of her family.
