Reno Omokri, a former presidential media aide, has shared a purported email that Peter Obi sent him, which included his resume for consideration as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in 2019.
In a podcast appearance last week, Reno asserted that he had positioned Peter Obi as a qualified applicant for the vice president post.
Reno claimed that Atiku had given him the task of selecting his running mate. and that Peter Obi was pursuing him in order to assist him in becoming Atiku’s running mate.
‘’I and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce were responsible for Waziri Abubakar picking Peter Obi as his running mate in 2019. We packaged Peter Obi. I will be in DC packaging Peter Obi, saying he was the next best thing after sliced bread. Why? I don’t particularly like Peter Obi. The reason I was doing that was because I was instructed by former President Jonathan that this is the man he wants and I am a loyal person.
Waziri Abubakar called me and said I should headhunt a Vice Presidential candidate for him. Without telling Waziri Atiku Abubakar, as he dropped the phone, the next person I called was President Jonathan and President Jonathan told me it is Peter Obi.
I said ‘Sir, If I just tell this man Peter Obi, wouldn’t it be rude because he said headhunt’. He said Okay Reno, you know how to do things So what I did was I packaged everybody. I don’t want to mention the names of some of the people. One of the persons that I put is an international civil servant now. The other one is chairman of a bank. They were three of them. All of them except the international civil servant was sending me their CV.
This Peter Obi that you see was calling ‘Reno have you gotten the CV. Ehn Check now! Refresh! This Peter Obi! He can not deny it. The emails are there. If he will deny it, I will disgrace him. He was sending me his CV unsolicited’’.
A few Nigerians, however, disputed his assertion and urged him to produce the proof he claimed to possess.
