Police burst robbery syndicate, recover arms and stolen items inAkwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its relentless fight against crime, as operatives of the Command arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered dangerous weapons and stolen items in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

On 20th March 2025, at about 23:30hrs, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room, reporting an ongoing armed robbery along Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village. Acting swiftly, tactical teams were mobilized to the scene, where the hoodlums were trailed to a Hotel (name withheld).

Following a well-coordinated operation, two suspects were apprehended:

1. Louis Joseph Thomas ‘m’, 23 years

2. Essien Friday Nelson ‘m’, 27 years

A thorough search led to the recovery of the following items:

Four (4) locally made pistols

Thirty-four (34) live cartridges

One (1) Moniepoint POS machine

Two (2) black face masks

Two (2) laptops

Three (3) Android phones

One (1) button phone

One (1) wristwatch

One (1) black long-sleeve Special Force polo

The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.

The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention.
