The African Action Congress (AAC) party, Abia State chapter has condemned in the strongest terms the recent announcement by the Governor Alex Otti-led state government to charge N50,000 per title document for land owners in the state.

The AAC in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its state Chairman, Ezumaibe Kelechiukwu and the state Publicity Secretary, Ijeoma Ogbonnaya, said that the policy was illegal and anti-people.

The party said that instead of imposing what it described as unnecessary financial burdens on citizens of the state, the state government should focus on providing affordable and accessible services that benefit the people.

According to the AAC party, “This policy is not only unlawful but also an anti-people move that aims to further impoverish Abians who are already struggling to make ends meet.

“It is unacceptable that the government would seek to burden citizens with such an exorbitant fee, which is clearly beyond the reach of many.

“We reject this policy and call on the Abia State Government to immediately reverse this decision.

“Instead of imposing unnecessary financial burdens on citizens, the government should focus on providing affordable and accessible services that benefit the people.

“We urge landowners and all Abians to resist this unjust policy and demand that their rights be respected.

“The AAC Party will continue to stand with the people and fight against any policies that seek to oppress and exploit them.”
